As to the manner in which loads are applied or transmitted to the structure of machine they may be considered as static loads, repeated loads, impact and energy loads.
Що стосується способу застосування чи навантаження на конструкцію машини навантажень, їх можна розглядати як статичні навантаження, багаторазові навантаження, ударні та енергетичні навантаження.
1. In static, steady or dead loads are forces that are appli¬ed slowly and remain nearly constant after being applied to the body such as the loads on most buildings or the load applied to a bar in the usual type of testing machine.
При статичних, стійких або мертвих навантаженнях застосовуються сили, що діють повільно і залишаються майже постійними після прикладання до тіла, наприклад, навантаження на більшість будівель або навантаження, що прикладається до бруса в звичайному типі випробувальної машини.
2. Repeated loads are forces that are applied a very large number of times causing a stress in the material that is conti¬nually changing, usually through some definite range. Such are the loads applied to the connecting rod of an engine when the engine is running, the wheel loads on a railroad rail as в train passes over the rail and similar ones.
Повторювані навантаження - це сили, які діють дуже велику кількість разів, викликаючи напруження в матеріалі, яке постійно змінюється, як правило, через певний діапазон. Такі навантаження, що діють на шатун двигуна, коли двигун працює, навантаження коліс на залізничну рейку, коли в поїзді проходить через рейку та подібні.
3. Impact loads are forces that are applied to the resis¬ting body in a relatively short period of time. An impact load, in general, is applied by a moving body when it comes in con¬tact with the resisting body. The force exerted by the moving body and the period during which it acts in general cannot be determined. For this reason in some problems it is more satis¬factory to calculate the stress and strain produced by an im¬pact load from the energy delivered to the resisting body by the moving body.
Ударні навантаження - це сили, що діють на опірне тіло за відносно короткий проміжок часу. Взагалі ударне навантаження прикладається рухомим тілом, коли воно стикається з опірним тілом. Силу, яку чинить тіло, що рухається, і період, протягом якого воно діє, загалом визначити неможливо. З цієї причини в деяких проблемах більш задовільним є розрахунок напружень і деформацій, що виникають внаслідок ударного навантаження від енергії, що надходить до опору тілом, що рухається тілом.

Loads may be classified as distributed loads and concentrated loads. A distributed load may be uniformly distributed or non-uniformly distributed. A concentrated load is one whose area of contact with the resis¬ting body is negligible in comparison with the area of the re¬sisting body.
Вантажі можна класифікувати як розподілені вантажі та концентровані вантажі. Розподілене навантаження може бути рівномірно розподіленим або нерівномірно розподіленим. Концентрованим навантаженням є зона, в якій область контакту з тілом, що чинить опір, є незначною в порівнянні з площею тіла, що чинить опір.
