Тема уроку: Подорож до Великої Британії

Мета: Ознайомити з новою лексикою та активізування її вживання в мовленні. Ознайомити учнів з правилами вживання артикля the. Продовжувати формувати навички монологічного мовлення. Розвивати вміння читати текст з метою отримання інформації, розвивати здогадку, комунікабельність, здатність здійснювати репродуктивні і продуктивні мовленнєві дії. Поглиблювати знання учнів про країну, мова якої вивчається. Виховувати пізнавальний інтерес до життя людей в інших країнах, повагу і толерантне ставлення до іншої культури.
Обладнання: підручник, зошит, вірш до мовної зарядки, невідомі слова до вірша, завдання до уроку, нові слова, картки для роботи з текстом, таблиця «The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland», кросворд, географічна карта Великобританії, зображення визначних місць Лондону, завдання для тестування, граматична таблиця, портрет королеви Великої Британії.

  1. Організаційний момент. Привітання. (Greeting).

  • Stand up! Stand still! Good morning! Sit down. Put your hands on the desks and listen to me. I am happy to see you today, let’s start our work.

Читання вірша «Roadways».

Учитель роздає учням картки з віршем, записує на дошці незнайомі слова та перекладає їх:

dipping — ледве видимі;

to lure— залучати;

homewards — додому;

forth— уперед, далі.

Учитель читає вірш, учні хором повторюють. Потім учні читають вірш у парах.

  • Today we have unusual lesson. We are going to speak about Great Britain. You'll know what parts it consists of, what their names and capitals are. The theme of the lesson is "Travelling to Great Britain". At the les­son we'll speak about the British culture and his­tory, we'll practise our listening, reading, speaking and writing skills. Today we'll widen our knowledge about London and its sights. At the end of the lesson you'll get to know some new information and you'll be able to tell a lot of interesting things about Great Britain.

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (the UK) is the official name of the country which is situated on the British Isles. That’s why when people say Great Britain, or the United Kingdom, Britain, or just the UK they mean the same — the country which you can see on the m ap.

It has got four parts: England, Scotland,Wales and Northern Ireland. The English People (the English) live in England, the Scotts live in Scotland, the Welsh live in Wales and the Irish – in the Northern Ireland.

The UK is separated from Europe by the English Channel. The country is also washed by the Atlantic Ocean in the north and the North Sea in the east. The largest of the British Isles – Ireland and Great Britain – are separated by the Irish Sea.

  • Today we are going to speak about sign seeing places in London – the capital of Great Britain. And now our guides tell us about London and places of interest. Listen carefully, because after that you will do London Quiz.


T .: Look at the map of London. Let’s go to the Tower Bridge.

P 1 Tower Bridge. This is a Tower Bridge. It is more than 100 years old. This bridge opens in the middle. The bridge is open, so the big ferry can pass underneath.

T.: Look over there. You can see Tower of London.

P 2 Tower of London. From Tower Bridge you can see the Tower of London. It is an ancient fortress, a famous prison. It was built 900 years ago. But now it is a museum. There are hundreds of interesting collections in it.
T.: Let’s go to the centre of London.

P 3 Trafalgar Square. We are in the centre of London. Look, here is Trafalgar Square. In the centre of the square there is a monument to Admiral Nelson. It is called the Nelson Column. He is a famous person in the history of the country.

T .: Near the Trafalgar Square you can see a famous Buckingham Palace.

P 4 Buckingham Palace. Not far from Trafalgar Square there is Buckingham Palace. It is the home of the Queen. When the flag is flying the Queen is at home. Every day at 11 o’clock you can see the ceremony of Changing the Guard.

T.: There are many beautiful churches in London.

P 5 Churches. You can see splendid churches in the city. Westminster Abbey is one of the oldest royal churches. St Paul’s Cathedral is the most wonderful classical church in Britain and it is the second large church in Europe.

T.: And now let’s tell us about Big Ben.

P6 Big Ben. There is a famous clock in London called Big Ben. Big Ben is the name of the clock and the bell. The bell weights 13 tons.

Р 7 London taxi. The London taxi is the first taxi in the world. It is black. Black cars are over 300 years old.

T.: Good job. It was very interesting stories. I’ d like to add some information about sights of London. Red double-decker buses are a typical picture in London. They have two levels of seating.

P1. As for me, I would like to visit Trafalgar Square. I want to see a monument to Admiral Nelson.

P3. If my memory serves me right, Buckingham Palace is the Queen's London residence. I think it's a very interesting place.

P4. I'd like to visit the Tower of London because it's a very old building. I'd like to see the ceremony of the keys at 10 pm.

P5. I'd like to visit Westminster Abbey. It's the church where the kings and the queens have been crowned. Many of them are buried there. There are many graves of famous people in this church.

  1. Підсумок уроку. ( Summarizing ).

  • T. Dr. Johnson said, "When a man is tired of Lon­don he is tired of life". This saying is well - known now but it is still true. There are hundreds of historic buildings, galleries and museums in London. Most museums are free. There are parks, over 80 theatres and even more cinemas. London is a beautiful city. It is worth visiting.

  • Today we have talked a lot about Great Britain and its places of interest. You were active and got good marks. I hope you enjoyed the lesson.
