It is very interesting to read this story. –

Indefinite Infinitive

Perfect Infinitive

She should have stayed at work.

Таке саме значення має Perfect Infinitive після минулого часу дієслів to expect сподіватися, чекати, to hope надіятися, to intend мати намір та ін.:

I’m happy to have been studying at this University for 5 years.

They don’t want to find me.

(The Objective Infinitive Complex)

І saw him run to the river.

He saw Helen cry. –

2) ComplexObjectвживається після дієслів, які виражають бажання, намір почуття: towant хотіти; towish, todesire бажати; tolikeлюбити подобатися; todislike не любити; tohate ненавидіти; tointend мати намір; should (would) like, хотів би та ін.:

The teacher allowed us to use dictionaries. –

(The Subjective Infinitive Complex)

We saw him run to the train (Ми бачили, як він біг до поїзда), до складу якого входить ComplexObject, перетворити на пасивне – He was seen to run to the train (Бачили, як він біг до поїзда), то інфінітив to run виражатиме дію, яку виконує особа, позначена займенником he. Отже, he і to run утворють синтаксичний комплекс, який називається суб”єктним інфінітивним комплексом (subjective infinitive complex).

They were ordered to leave the hall. –

He was made to put on his coat. –

6) SubjectiveInfinitiveComplex вживається з словосполученнями to be sure, to be certain, to be likely, to be unlikely:

He is certain to be sleeping. –
